What Causes Painful Intercourse?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jan 2017
Question: What can I do to help with pain during intercourse? I was on hormone therapy, and everything was fine. However, my O.B.G.Y.N. was killed in a car accident last Christmas, and having a hard time trying to replace him. I am on a list to see his daughter, but shes not yet practicing, I have a few more months . Is there anything I can do until then, short of seeing another doctor?

Hi..
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Can you tell me which hormone therapy you were on and since how long?

Is the pain during intercourse due to dryness of vagina or is it pain after intercourse? Since how long you have this problem? Is your periods regular and what about scan reports?

If it's only dryness local application of lubricant like KY jelly will help.. But if it is during or after intercourse pelvic inflammatory disease has to be ruled out..

Looking forward for your reply.. Thanks

I haven't had my period since my 40th birthday, just about to the day. I started having wicked nights sweats about 28. My doc. put me on Premarin, however it mad me feel so mean I couldn't continue. So I went until about 36 with nothing, but was miserable from no sleep. I was up all night changing P.J.s and sheets. Doc then wanted me to try Cenestin {sp.} and it worked wonders. I had been taking that until my script ran out in February2016.
I do use KY jelly, but still very painful. My honeys penis can only go in just a little and its almost like I closed up. I don`t mean to sound rude, just don`t know how else to explain. I can`t continue having sex, it almost feels like burning or dryness. But we use KY.
I loved my doctor and had been seeing him forever. I am going to check today to see if his daughter is up and running. I`ve been on her patient list since she started med. school, very very nice people. However, if you think I need to see someone soon I`ll figure someone out.
I forgot to answer your question on how long it`s been going on. A few months I think, not very long.
I was told by a couple of friends, which are nurses, that I shouldn`t go off hormones. That I will shrink and have bone problems...My G.P. wanted me off, I trusted my O.B.G.Y.N. Actually I`m looking for new G.P., but thats a whole other deal.
I really appreciate your time and advice.
Thank you, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Hi..

Thanks for the detailed history.. From your history it clear that you are having premature ovarian failure which is the cause of all your troubles..

Yes hormone replacement therapy is the treatment. Cenestin can be taken along with low dose progesterone crom 14th day to get mensus like bleeding and also to reduce the side effect of estrogen on the uterus.. A regular screening and full body check is required 6 monthly while on these pills..

Vaginal dilators are available in various sizes which can be lubricated and serial dilatation can be done to increase the size and length of the vagina.. Regular intercourse is a must..

Include a loud of fruits and veggies in your diet which is rich in phytoestrogen like grapes, oats, soybeans etc.. Take calcium and vit D supplement to prevent osteoporosis..

Hope I have answered your query.. feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day..
