What Causes Painful Bumps On The Rectum?
Question: Hello about Saturday of this week that has just passed I did a number 2 and wiped myself several times to make sure that area was clear. On Sunday there were two bumps one on the crack and another one right beside it. They where not on the anus but a bit above. On Monday the one on the crack bust open and it look like a open sore. On Tuesday the other one opened. They were painful and then itchy. But now it's a bit sore. There has been no puss or crust that I can see as of yet. I also have pictures.

I saw the photos and i might say it is a fistula. A fistula (as in your case), is an abnormal communication between your skin and an infection process that has happened under your skin (but it might happen between your skin and an organ).
Now depending from the position it might be an anal fistula (it is a communication between your skin and your anus or rectum) or it might be a pilonidal sinus. It is a sinus tract which commonly contains hairs. It occurs under your skin between your buttocks.
In both cases, the only way to be treated is through surgery. You need to consult a surgeon and get the corrective surgery done. Don't worry it can be treated easily and it is a benign pathology.

Ok how long will it take to heal or will it heal on its own. I was looking online and all that I was seeing was herpes which was very scary to me. So I can deal with anything other than that. Lol

I will explain how a fistula is formed:
1- In the case of pilonidal fistula: Fragments of hair become 'stuck' in your skin and they irritate it and cause inflammation. After some time this inflammated tissue gets infected and causes the sinus to develop. It will start spreading in the tissue around it. It might go deeper or in most of the cases it starts to communicate with a skin and creating a fistula. Since the reason of all this process is deep in the skin (hair in this case) it will never heal on it's own. So surgery is needed.
2- In the case of anal fistula: It is formed after an anal abscess. This kind of fistula causes persistent drainage. It is a communication between your skin and rectum or anus. It is formed when an anal abscess drains in the skin.
Now according to the photos, in my opinion it is a fistula. It will not heal on it's own. It might get a bit better but after some time (usually after some weeks or even months), it will create the similar symptoms.
If diagnosis is confirmed by physical examination by a surgeon, then surgery is the only option to get it fully treated.
