What Causes Painful And Sensitive Red Spots On Skin?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 May 2016
Question: It started with sesitive skin from my center lower back stopping at my center stomach, from my belly button to my lower ribs on my right side only. It has been 48 hours since it began and now red dots are showing up on my skin with more localized sensitivity. I don't know if another pain is associated, but at the same time as the skin issue a sharp pain in my right kidney location appeared, it felt like I was punched real hard, then the pain faded for a few hours and came back to the same level. What is going on? Normally I am in great shape and have a good diet.

Please attach a photo of this red dots.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of this dots? Are yhis dots only on one side of the body? Do you have diabetes?

From your description it seems that you have a disease called Shingles. Its caused by a virus which is located in nerve fibers and gets activated whey your immune system gets weaker.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Sorry, I didn't see where the message was until now. I couldn't down load pictures from my phone. The red dots have little bumps and are sensitive to touch. I looked up conditions of Shingles and it seems exactly what I have, but I wonder why I have the pain near my kidney that comes and goes?

What is a treatment for shingles?

Brief Answer:
Bed rest is the best treatment.

Detailed Answer:
The pain is in the kidney area, as the virus is active along the nerve (nerves). So the nerve starts in the spine (kidney area), then goes a little bit down to the side and than to the front traveling right to the umbilical area. That is very typical.

Shingles appear due to low immune system. It can be due to stress, cold or even diabetes which is not diagnosed or controlled.

The disease is self limiting and does not need any special treatment. Usually bed rest for a week helps. Sometimes, antiviral treatment is necessary.
