Posted on Tue, 6 Dec 2016
Question: This past Saturday, my husband performed the Heimlich on me in the morning, that evening we went to a wedding and we did the lift from Dirty Dancing (tradition). The following morning I woke up in excruciating pain on my left side, below my breast. Since then the pain has gotten worse, i have tightness in my chest, my side hurts to breath deeply and i can barely move without having a stabbing pain in my side.

Brief Answer:
Lung xrays required

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is probably just injury of intercostal muscles and pain may persist for several days, however you should do lung xrays if there is no improvement on painkillers such as oxycodone or ibuprofen, since sometimes pneumothorax or pneumonia may occur and this requires specific treatment.Wish you good health. Regards
