Brief Answer:
Tendonitis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the area is less likely to be due to inflammation of the joint and more likely to be due to tendonitis. Such inflammation usually subsides with rest, mild pain killers and a hot compress in the area. Do keep the hand in neutral position and avoid holding anything. IN case the pain is persistent or there is a visible swelling then do consul;t an orthopedician for proper examination and stronger prescription medicines.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Brief Answer:
Using an elastic bandage will help.

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Taking pain killers and doing a hot compress will help. You can also use an elastic bandage around the painful area for support.
