What Causes Pain In The Right Chest Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Sep 2016
Question: My 20 yr old grandson who lives with me is having a pain in the right chest area sort of behind the nipple. It is not severe, rather a constant pain that ibuprophen doesn't seem to relieve. He does smoke.

I got no reply. I have cancelled recurring payments. Very disappointed.

Brief Answer:
Gall bladder pathology

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

Sorry for the delay.

It does take a minimum time for initial screening of your query before it reaches me.

Based on the site of pain, age and smoking history I believe your grandson might be suffering from a gall bladder pathology.

The possibilities could be gall bladder inflammation (Cholecystitis) or Gall bladder inflammation secondary to stone (Cholelithiasis).

I suggest you to get a Ultrasound scan of his abdomen. This is the gold standard test to rule out gall bladder pathology. It also, helps to rule out any causes which can cause pain in the right side of the lower chest.

Hope, I answered your query.

Wish you good health.
