Question: My dad has dementia. The problem may or may not stem from this. He had 3 lower teeth and some posts removed from lower gum line. It has been 2 weeks and he still cries when he eats and complains I make his food to hard. The dentist we went to is in Maryland and I have since moved him in with me in XXXXXXX Should I take him to another dentist or a doctor?

Thanks for writing in...
Has his cardiac function been evaluated? Sometimes cardiac insufficiency can also present with pain in the jaw/teeth.Not all patients experience the classic left sided chest pain with radiation to the arm. So if his heart function has not been evaluated yet, it would be a good idea to get an ECG and ECHO test done.
Another thing is with 3 teeth removed, he might be in pain. Also he might not be able to chew food properly . For a day, try giving him semi solid food like porridge, oatmeal , steamed vegetables and see if he is still complaining of pain. If pain is still present visit a dentist to rule out other problems like abscess formation etc.
Hope your dad feels better soon.
