Posted on Mon, 20 Oct 2014
Question: Hi

I had a hard pain on my testes, doctor gave me antibiotic tavanic for 20 days and then avalox for 15 days, then this pain was relieved but i still have some other kind of pain and bad feeling on my testis

I asked a doctor here and he advised me to do ultrasound and doppler as he suspects that i recovered from epididytimitis and still have funiculitis

I did the ultrasound and doppler
I want to upload the result so you can check if i still have epididytimitis or I have funiculitis and how to cure

Brief Answer:
Drink NSAIDs for pain relief.

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed your ultrasound result and I have found out that younger slight swelling in your left epididymis and you also have varicocoele on the left testis. Varicocoele is enlargement or dilation of the veins in your testis and may cause pain and infertility. Nothing is wrong in your right testis and right epididymis and just might be a little sore and still recovering from your orchitis last week.

I suggest avoiding strenuous activity while there is pain and drink NSAIDs ( pain reliever) e.g. Mefenamic acid etc. to alleviate the pain and swelling.

What does the younger swelling on my left epididymis mean and what is the treatment
doctor
Answered by Dr. Manuel C See IV (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
If no pain on the left no need for treatment

Detailed Answer:
According to the ultrasound, you may have epididymitis on the left because there is slight swelling of the epididymis.

If you don't have discomfort or pain on the left then you don't need any treatment. I will just suggest to repeat the ultrasound in 4-6 weeks to check the status of your epididymis if it has resolved.

If you have pain on the left then treatment would be antibiotics for 2 weeks (ciprofloxacin etc.) and NSAIDs intake for swelling and pain.

could the feeling like a friction with pant on left side be from epididytimitis
is it epididytimitis or funiculitus because i took epididytimitus antubiotic 20 days oc tavanic then 15 days of avalox and finished this course one month ago

Brief Answer:
yes imay have epididymitis mild.

Detailed Answer:
you if the left testis is more sensitive than the right then yes that is a symptom of epididymitis. You don't have funiculitis since your cord is not thickened on ultrasound and it is not swollen.

You may have eradicated the bacteria by drinking antibiotics but we still have to wait for the inflammation to resolve. This could take a while maybe a few more weeks with avoidance of strenuous activities and wearing tight fitting underwear.

Brief Answer:
No sex or ejaculation while there is pain.

Detailed Answer:
thank you for your follow up question and I am very sorry for not being specific. Yes no ejaculation or sexual activity for one to two weeks until pain subsides.

Regular walking is okay and all regular activities like grocery etc. No sports or cardiovascular exercise allowed yet until there is pain. Basically we are waiting and allowing your body to heal itself.
