Based on your clinical details, it appears to be Eustachian tube (tube connecting the middle ear and nose) dysfunction secondary to cough.


severe form of cold can cause post nasal drip (nasal secretions drips back into throat) and induces cough and Eustachian tube dysfunction leading to ear blockage and painful head-ache.


I suggest you to follow these measures to overcome your Eustachian tube dysfunction.


1. anti allergic medication cetrizine 10 mg one tab at bed time for couple of days(over the counter medication).
2. chew chewing gum.
3. do valsalva exercises (watch you tube video).
4. Steam inhalation- for clearing nasal secretions.
5. Nasal decongestant drops -xylometazoline 3 drops/3 times (over the counter medication).


In case of persistence of symptoms, needs ENT surgeon consultation to rule out other causes.
