What Causes Pain In Penis?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Feb 2015
Question: Hello, I have been having a slight pain coming from inside my penis for a little while now that has gotten worse. It sometimes feel like something is moving in there. In addition I have developed a yellow spot just right of my left pupil and recently have started to get pain three inches from my belly button and lower right abdominal pain. I have no discharge and have got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea twice both negative. I had some swelling in random parts of my body before the side and abdominal pain started but dont know if its related. The first symptom was the pain inside the penis but it was a small pain at first started after I had unprotected sex in the end of September then I developed the yellow spot in my eye as well as a yellow/reddish line going across my eye. I have no problem with my vision and my optometrist said it was nothing. Next came the random swelling which started with a few on my neck and right arm then when they went away new ones came on my left arm and then my neck again. I was giving bactrim pills which help to keep them down and some type of steroid shot to my buttocks when swelling got bad. I have gotten a few minor swelling since but nothing as bad as before. Since the pain inside my penis has been worst, it went from being a once a few days to a everyday pain and now with the side pain im really starting to worry. I have also started getting a slight pain right below my testicles. I have no pain while urinating or after ejaculation. Unless im sitting still the pain in my penis use to be unnoticeable but now I get sharp pains randomly no matter what im doing

A list of suggestions for the way forward sir, best of luck

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Indeed your symptoms do seem like they could be caused by two different conditions, but we can only confirm this by further and more elaborate investigations.

I would first like to comment on the pain that you have been experiencing towards the right side of your abdomen, along with the yellowish discolouration of your sclera and the line passing it. These symptoms can be associated with a liver or gall bladder abnormality (more likely to be a liver abnormality). I would suggest the following investigations to look into this:

+Ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis
+Comprehensive blood panel (including comprehensive blood count, liver function test, renal function test, ESR, etc.)
+Physical examination and palpation of your abdomen by a doctor

Now coming to your main complaint, the pain around or inside the penis. As you have mentioned undergoing tests to rule out gonorrhoea and chlamydia I would like to recommend a few more investigations, mainly because you mentioned having experienced these symptoms after having unprotected sexual intercourse. Following are my recommendations:

+Get in touch with the individual you had unprotected sexual intercourse with and find out whether they have been diagnosed with any infections. This would help save a lot of time by providing us with the diagnosis right away.

+Elaborate STD-panel

+Urine analysis

+Urine culture and sensitivity examination

+Penile dischage sample sent to the laboratory for analysis

Please go about the following as these would be the wise next step. I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.

Do you have any idea from my symptoms what std of infection it might be. The only other std test that most places in the area offer are syphilis and hiv which I have been tested for, both negative. Would like to narrow my search so I can find a proper place to get testing done
