What Causes Pain In Oesophagus While Swallowing?

default
Posted on Sat, 14 Nov 2015
Question: Hi, I recently took a 3-week course of antibiotic/anti-fungal/cortisone drops in my ear (finished one week ago). Also for one week, I have had pain in my esophagus when swallowing. I am wondering if this is connected. Has there been cortisone damage in my esophagus?

Brief Answer:
Take a probiotic and a anti-reflux medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. The discomfort while swallowing is usually due to the side effects of the medication which you have taken over the past few weeks.

2. This should settle down.

3. Get a prescription of a probiotic and anti-reflux medication form a local doctor.

4. Long term damage is unlikely. Consult a Gastroenterologist if this pain on swallowing persists.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
