Question: Hello Doctor, I have right neck , shoulder and arm pain from last 3 weeks. Doctor suggested to take MRI cervical spine and NCV single nerve test. in the NCV nerve test there is no issue reported. But in MRI Scan, its reported as "Small Disc osteopyte complexes indenting the Thecal Sac are seen". Please suggest the next step to be taken..? is the problem is critical..? Thanks,

Brief Answer: No its can be managed with exercise Detailed Answer: Thecal sac compression means that the CSF space is compressed and no neurological tissue is compressed. This can be taken care of with rest in the acute phase and later on can be followed by neck strengthening exercises. Please make sure you are taking calcium rich diet. And no the problem is not critical if there is no nerve root compression and only theca sac compression. Hope this clears your doubt. P.S. saw your scan. Yes there does not appear to be any significant spine compression though nerve root compression are best assessed on transverse sections....
