What Causes Pain In Neck And Head?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Jul 2014
Question: 2 weeks ago I noticed my neck was sore and stiff ( It hurt to turn my head left ) I thought maybe I had slept wrong. I ignored it until a day later the pain was getting worse and now I had a head ache stretching around the right side of my head into the forehead. It brought me to tears and I took tylenol and Ibprophin. I noticed in that time I had many falls and accidents due to balance loss. I have never had issue with this. As the two weeks has gone by I have been suffering these pains that come and go ( neck pain never going away ) The pain gets worse in the neck and then moves into the head. I have had this at least 5 nights in 2 weeks. I have a temp of 99.3 with no symptoms of cold or flu. All I can do is lay down and try to sleep which results in me crying myself to sleep with a belt or band wrapped tightly around my head which is the only thing that helps to ease thepain a bit. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Brief Answer:
assessment investigation ans treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
The localized pain in neck and head region that is persisting for two weeks is indicative of something sinister underlying.
It can be due to retropharyngeal abscess, any ear infection, meningitis or a local pathology in neck bones.
I think a better idea would be to consult a local physician as soon as possible and get a work up.
A complete blood count, electrolytes and a CT scan of head and neck should be helpful. But it should be decided by the physician once he examines you in person.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
Take Care!
