What Causes Pain In Arms And Hands During Urination?

default
Posted on Sat, 28 Feb 2015
Question: When I have a bladder infection (several times a year) I have pain (level 10) in both arms and hands when I urinate. I am female, 73, had 6 children, and live a very active life - still volunteering 30 hours a week. The pain begins a few seconds before urination, continues during urination, and quits right after urination. I can't find a solution and the MD's I have talked to haven't herd of anything like this. This does not occur when I do not have a bladder infection - just when I do. This has happened with every bladder infection over the last four years. Before that, I never had bladder infections. Could it be kidney stones, neurological, etc. I need to know what kind of physician I should consult with.

Brief Answer:
Consultation with Cardiologist and Urologist is mandate in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your query and concern.

Significant Bladder infections have high propensity to cause renal stones which cause pain during urination.

This needs careful evaluation through CT or MRI abdomen.

Also pain radiation to arms and hands at your age needs a cardiac evaluation in the form of baseline Cardiac work up like ECG and 2 D echo, since many cardiac disorders mask as pain in the extremities.

Hence you need to consult both urologist and cardiologist.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
