What Causes Pain Below The Diaphragm, Excessive Gas And Rashes On The Abdomen?

default
Posted on Tue, 19 Mar 2019
Question: Thanks very much > I have had dull, uncomfortable pain for the past one week. It started right below my diaphragm, extending to the lower part, sometimes stretching to my back. I pass gas when I seat on the commode. My urine is healthy and my stool is normal. It helps when I lay on it. I have had sleeve bariatric surgery and gallbladder surgeries. I noticed a burning rash today.

- The pain is on my left; it started from the diaphragm, now is on the left of the stomach below the diaphragm.
- I feel a bit relieved when I eat, and the pain is off and on. It is less when I am active.
- The bariatric surgery, the sleeve was in 2014, and the gallbladder was in 1993
- I do not consume alcohol at all
- I am not a smoker, never smoked
- I do not have a history of constipation, but noticed a change in my bowel movement since having the surgery. Adding ginger tea and lemon, and slim tea helped with moving my bowels quickly and daily.
- No history of diabetes and my cholesterol level was standard the last time I did my physical.
- There is a multivitamin recommended for people that did sleeve surgery by Unjury; I take one chewable tablet a day, two baby aspirin a day- chewable, 10,000 mcg of biotin capsules, one capsule of apple cider vinegar, one capsule of turmeric curcumin.
- The location of the rash is on my left about the area of the pain and another outbreak by my bust line. I almost thought I have shingles. I am black, the rash started reddish, now disappearing but a bit hard to touch.
- Started off with tingling, definitely itchy.

Brief Answer:
Rule out pancreatitis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The location and characteristics of the pain are concerning for an inflamed pancreas or pancreatitis. Serum any less and lipase levels can screen for pancreatitis. So please be advised to follow up with the urgent care.

If pancreatitis is ruled out, then gastritis is an i.portant consideration. The rash is probably unrelated to abdominal pain. The rash has started subsiding very fast, it is likely due to contact dermatitis/eczema. If the rash is subsiding by itself, no additional treatment is required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Thanks so much Dr and God bless you real good. I will follow up with urgent care as soon as possible. I stopped all medication for a couple of days, and I resumed the capsule of apple cider vinegar, 500mcg of biotin, one chewable baby aspirin instead of the two that used to take, one capsule of the turmeric curcumin and my multivitamin from unjury.
The area is still each and sensitive to touch. I applied anti-itch to the area, and it's like burning as I used the cold cream. It's still itchy and uncomfortable under my skin area.

Follow up of the answer.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

If the rash is worsening with itching and burning, then shingles also need to be ruled out. It is difficult for me to give you a definite answer without seeing the rash.

Hope I have answered your query.
