What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensations In The Legs?

Question: Dear Dr.
I am a 58 yr women who was in a car accident in 2014 that left me with herniated and bulging disc and was told that I have a pinched nerve. I had one episode where I could not walk at all. I was walking like I had cerebral palsy. I had the problem walking months after the accident but that day and a few days were bad. But right now, I can't sit too long or walk too fast or I loose my balance. When I sit for 10 mins or more, my left foot and toes get numb which is where most of my pain is on my lower left back. I took therapy for awhile and after a year I still had the problem, I went to a specialist where he did a trial epidural and he said that it may only work for a short period. It did give me relief but as he said; the pain came back after about 10hrs. I went back but that doctor was not there and another doctor waited on me and gave me six epidurals in my back that was full of pain and did not do anything. I'm just wondering what is it that I can do now or what may this be. My mom who is a diabetic said that it sounds like neuropathy but I've been checked for diabetes and don't have it. I'm tired of the pain and numb, tingling and feeling cold feet/toes. My MRS says: Lumbar Spine 7 views done. The vertebral body heights are well maintained. There is mild narrowing of the L3-L4 and L5-S1 disc. There is limited mobility with flexion and extension. There is some anterior spurring at L3-L4. The pedicles are intact. The facet joints are unremarkable. His Impression: There is some disc degeneration at L3-L4 and L5-S1
The last thing I was told was to do therapy again. But I already do that. Please help

Brief Answer:
Can you upload your MRI film? Nerve conduction study.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

The symptoms of left low back pain with a possible radiation upto left foot, along with numbness in left foot, appears to indicate for lumbo-sacral radiculopathy.

However, neuropathy may have similar symptoms as well.Nerve conduction studies of lower limbs may help differentiate the two.

Further, please upload your MRI image as seeing that will help me to form a better opinion.

Antineuralgic medicines like pregabalin, duloxetine along with methylcobalamin and calcium/vitamin D supplementation will help in your symptoms.A short course of non steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines like Naproxen may also help. In addition, spinal extension exercises are must for improvement.

Hope that helps.I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
