What Causes Pain And Redness In The Vaginal Area?

Question: a woman has extreme pain response to palpation of vaginal opening, edema, redness, and mass detected on right side. Spontaneous foul-smelling, dark yellow discharge with palpation over Bartholin's glands. VS: BP 110/80, HR 80, RR 16, Temp 98.8. Sexual history: with a guy but not exclusive, she and the guy sees other people. What is a possible diagnosis? Differential diagnosis?

Mostly Bartholin abscess. Rule out other STDs.

Hi there, I have understood your concern and and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

As per your description, the condition looks like Bartholin gland abscess.
Pain, sweilling,foul smell discharge - all are suggesting infection in the Bartholin gland.

As treating doctor,I would have suggested a week long course of broad spectrum antibiotic, Amoxycillin and clavulinic acid combination.And suitable pain killer.
Also get basic hemogram,urine routine examination and tests for STDs.

Also, it is important to have good sex counseling and measures to prevent STDs.
