Brief Answer: It may be inflammation of glands of eyelids Detailed Answer: Hello Welcome to Health care magic Iam Dr. Dadapeer K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye. It seems from the history that you are having slight pain above the level of eyes with tenderness. These symptoms indicate inflammation or infection involving the glands of the eyelids resulting in hordeolum internum or hordeolum externum. The treatment of the condition is by using antibiotic eye drops and anti-inflammatory drugs. Applying hot compression to the swollen area provides symptomatic relief. If the condition is not responding to treatment you need to consult eye doctor for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment accordingly. Please do send photo of the involved eye so that I can confirm the diagnosis and advice regarding treatment. Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you. Thank you

There is no visible swelling - it is on the eye socket not on eye lids

Brief Answer: You require analgesic drugs for pain relief. Detailed Answer: Hello Thank you for the follow up. If the swelling is on the eye socket then it is inflammatory cystic swelling like inflammed sebaceous cyst or inflammation of the deeper glands of the eyelids like internal hordeolum. The initial treatment is same as I have told in the previous answer by using antiinflammatory and analgesic drugs like diclofenac and antibiotic eye ointments like ciplox eye ointment for local application and hot compression to the local swollen area. The swelling/puffiness and pain should disappear in 3-5 days. If the condition is not responding then you can consider visiting a eye doctor for confirmation of diagnosis and prescription of drugs. Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you. Thank you
