Brief Answer:
Infection of bone

Detailed Answer:
Dear

Thanks for posting your query.

Osteomyelitis is inflammation/infection of the bone caused by an infecting organism.

As you have mentioned he had injury about couple of years ago and he is having diabetes, that injury might be the reason for infection in bone.

Poor nutrition, uncontrolled sugar and neglected deep injury contribute to the development of osteomyelitis.

He needs proper workup inform of blood counts, X rays etc as per advice from his doctor.

The treatment is at times given for longer period of time depending upon the severity of infection.

Please follow the advice given and make him complete the course of treatment.

Early and specific treatment is important in osteomyelitis, and identification of the causative microorganisms is essential for antibiotic therapy.

I hope this helps and clarifies your concern.

Regards,

Dr.Prangesh
