default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016
Question: I have had an on and off sore throat for a couple of weeks. I take a vit C &D and get some sleep and it seems to get better. this am my husband checked it and said throat is orange. he took a pic and it is orange. only slight sore throat now. no fever, he had strep 3 weeks ago. kids have had a lot of allergy drainage (no strap). I have not noticed bad allergies. (I am asthmatic and am on meds so maybe the allergies are not hitting me as bad as the kids). on advair so thought it may be thrush. I am careful to rinse my mouth after using. why is it orange and is it serious? I feel OK. throat just slightly sore. thanks, XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Can be most likely bacterial infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely bacterial infection in throat. Orange color can be due to infection and inflammation. Proper antibiotic therapy will be required in such case. It is not that serious and you will be fine most likely after taking antibiotics.

I would suggest broad spectrum antibiotics like Co-amoxiclav or Azithromycin in such case. You can approach your GP for this. Take warm fluids. Gargling with warm saline and using throat Lozenges will be good. Drinking tea with lemon and honey , warm chicken soup with pepper is also good.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
