Posted on Fri, 13 May 2016
Question: For the last month I have an onion celery taste in my mouth and everything I eat taste like onions. Went to GP and he prescribed antibiotics saying it must be a sinus infection. I have taken Rulide for the last 7 day and have 3 days to go, but the taste is still there.

Brief Answer:
Evaluation of oral hygiene and ruling out gastric reflux.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.

The definitive diagnosis is difficult on net but I’ll try and narrow down the diagnosis for you. You need to discuss these options with your doctor.

Apart from the sinusitis, it may be due to poor oral hygiene & in such case you should go for scaling.

After going for scaling of teeth you should try to maintain proper oral hygiene by regular brushing twice a day.
Also use 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash 10 ml half an hour after brushing.
Other reasons can be gastric problem like gaestric oesophageal reflux disorder. In this case I would have suggested you to avoid spicy food, alcohol and smoking for few days, eat food rich in fibres and more vegetarian food. Along with this capsule omez 20 mg once daily before breakfast in the morning for 7 days.

As you have mentioned that you have taken antibiotic for sinusitis, apart from drugs I would suggest you for steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil in it for two to three time a day for 4 to 5 days. And salt water gargaling 3 to 4 times a day. Kindly follow this measures your symptoms should reduce.

You should try the options suggested above. Hopefully you will get better.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
