What Causes Odd Plucking Sensation In Brain?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, I just sent through my question, sometimes, when in bed prior to going to sleep, or during the night, I have an odd sensation in my brain. It is rather like a fine wire being plucked. Similar to a guitar string. I sense the "ping" and sometimes imagine a line rather like the lines on one of those hospital heart monitors. It only happens occasionally and has been doing so for about a year. In 1991 I did have a serious car accident and suffered some brain damage. Not that it has prevented me from continuing with a normal life, eg. I'm now 72 and still working, am also physically very fit

Brief Answer:
Hearing nerve disfunction.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Your concerns seems to be related to ear and hearing nerve disfunction that is transmitted to brain.

It is very unlikely to be related to your past traumatic brain damage, it may be related to recent events, probably a inner ear infection, toxic damage to nervous system or a drug side effects.

If you notice worsening of your symptoms, then I recommend you to consult a ENT Doctor.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Yet another query. I am 72 years of age and approx. 8 years ago broke my left ankle. For some unknown reason both ankles burn at night and both have a tendency to swell on a hot day. The soles of my feet also always burn at night. I do have a heel spur. Many thanks, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Probably neuropathy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.

There may be a condition related to peripheral nerve damage or neuropathy that causes burn feeling.

Swelling at hot is also related to blood circulation disregulation due to peripheral vegetative nerves, and is not related to bone spurs.

In my opinion there is need to consult a Neurologist and have a conduction nerve study (ENMG) done in order to properly evaluate causes of your concerns.

Hope this helps. Wishing you good health.
