What Causes Numbness Of Right Side Of Face And Swollen Gums With Tooth Abscess?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Jul 2014
Question: I recently had been treated for what was thought to be sinus infection, then absessed tooth. the tooth was recently pulled now it seems my body is still fighting an infection. The area around the tooth is swollen and infected. Plus now today it seems the right side of my head & face appear numb. I am on amoxicylin and tramadol right now as well. I am concerned about the numbness that has slowly started tonight.
Could the infection be spreading thru my face OR is the numbness a seperate issue OR could it be an effect of too many meds in my system? I am suppose to take 2 tramadol every 4 hours and was told I can mix in regular tylonol with it. I have taken 8 regular tylonols and 4 tramadol pills today along with my 3 amoxicylin pills which I take 1 every 8 hrs

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM.
This is dr XXXXXXX jaiswal answering your query.i have thoroughly gone through your condition and i think that swelling and numbness is due to infection causing abcess formation.it can be either due to infected tooth socket or sinus infection.some times removal of upper tooth(specialy molar) can also lead to maxillary sinus infection.
I dont think normal amoxycillin ll work that well in your condition.you have to take broad spectrum antibiotic.

If i were your treating doctor i wud advice Cefuroxime 500 mg plus clavulanic acid 125 mg combination like cefakind CV . For anerobic bacteria metronidazole 400 mg sud also be taken.for pain aceclofenac plus paracetamol combination can be taken.

Hope this ans fullfills your query.take care
