What Causes Numbness In The Toes?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: Starting about a month ago, I have numbness in my right third and forth toes. After looking it up online, I thought that maybe it was due to wearing dress boots to work, so I started wearing sandals without a heel. Then within a week, I started to notice that I had knee joint pain (inside my kneee) on my right side when walking. This has been going on for about three weeks. I am very physically active--I do Crossfit several times a week. When I run, I notice that my right foot feels numb and heavy, but my knee does not hurt as much as when I walk. Could I make this work by continuing to exercise? Which exercises should I avoid? Should I see a doctor or is it okay to wait to see if this heals on its own?

Brief Answer:
peripheral neuritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the question.
I have gone through your medical history in detail.

The symptoms indicate that you have neuritis of the spinal nerve of the leg. This is a condition in which there is an inflammation of the nerve usually related to vitamin B6 and B12 deficiency.

Another possibility is of a spinal nerve compression in the lumbar spine causing neuropathy and numbness.

I would suggest you to take vitamin supplements along with calcium and vitamin D.You should stop doing all the exercises for atleast 15 days till the symptoms subside.

At present,i feel, there is no need for a doctor's consultation.

But if the numbness increases inspite of taking the above tablets, then you should definitely consult a doctor.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
Kind regards.
