Brief Answer:
Other causes of peripheral neuropathy to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Your symptoms are most likely related to conditions such peripheral neuropathy.

Besides diabetes, other causes that may result in peripheral neuropathy include alcohol use, viral infections, low vitamin B12 in blood, toxic substances, side effects of certain drugs, kidneys, and thyroid gland dysfunction, etc.

In my opinion, it is necessary to get evaluated further about these conditions and to star a treatment with antineuralgic drugs such pregabalin, gabapentin or Amytriptiline.

Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.

Thank you for your valued reply. I am being treated for Parkinson's by a neurologist and on 26 May 2017 he prescribed a regimen5 of gabapentin 300m/3 times a day. I have yet to experience any change regarding my symptoms. I realize that I have been taking gabapentin for only a short time, but how much longer before I should expect the drug to show its effects?

Brief Answer:
A couple of weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Generally it takes one or two weeks for gabapentin to show its effects on pain, so I think you should wait another week to see if it is working or not.

Hope I helped you.

Kind regards.
