Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I appreciate your concerns.

I need the information for below queries so that I can help you better.

Were these antibiotics prescribed after vaginal swab test? Does the vaginal discharge have a fishy odor? Has she been tested for sexually transmitted diseases? What exactly is the abnormal pap test result? What did the doctor say regarding the abnormal pap test? Are there any lesions on cervix (neck of womb)?

The abnormal pap itself may be causing the discharge.

Bloody nose is not related to the vaginal infection that she is having? Please consult a ENT specialist for the same.

Please tell her not to use scented soaps, perfumes and vaginal douches. These can further increase the vaginal discharge. Ask her to use only cotton underwear.

I am waiting for your reply.

Best wishes,
Dr Rama

Thank you.
Yes, antibiotics prescribed after vaginal swab. Yes, still has fishy order. Not sure if she has been tested for sexually transmitted disease, but will ask .
She has follow up with Dr regarding abnormal pap, but so far the dr has just said they need to monitor .
Will suggest a follow up with ENT regarding bloody noses ...

Brief Answer:
Please tell her to be regular with pap test follow ups.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.
The fishy odor is due to bacterial vaginosis. Did the swab result suggest that?
If she feels that the antibiotics are not working, tell her to consult doctor and use a different antibiotic and see. While on medicines, let her not have sex or use condoms during sex.

If it is persistent even after the second course of treatment consult the doctor again. The doctor will prescribe her monthly suppressive treatment with Metranidazole and Diflucan for few months. This treatment has known to reduce the incidence of bacterial vaginosis and promote colonization of vagina with normal flora.

Please tell her to be regular with pap test follow ups. This is very important.
She should practice safe sex( use condoms during sex).

I hope this is helpful.
If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.

Best wishes,
Dr Rama
