What Causes Neck Sprain Along With Heaviness And Pulling Sensation In Head?

Question: Hello Doctor,
My Mother has been observing the following symptoms in last 2-3 weeks:

1) Neck Sprain (Which is not there at the moment).
2) Heavy head
3) Some kind of nerve pulling sensation in the head.

She has consulted Doctor XXXXXXX Sekhar XXXXXXX (Medicine specialist) on 4th XXXXXXX and continued the medicine as advised for nearly 10 days. Did not help much though the neck sprain is not there now.

Yesterday she consulted Dr. XXXXXXX Rath (Neuro Surgeon) and did CT scan, x-ray and blood test as reommended by him (Attching the report herewith).
Dr. Rath has adviced to take below medicines:
1.Ramister H5
2.Delcon
3. Open oz
4. Clery 200

She has been continuing the above medicine. She finds it very difficult to get sleep with these symptoms. While she is still intolerable with the nerve pulling sensesation in her head and heavy head, i have the following queries:

Questions:
1) What does the diagnosis and Dr. Rath's report signifies?
2) What could possibly be the root cause?
3) Whether medicines prescribed are correct and safe to continue given her condition?
4) WIll she complete the medicines before we take any further action?

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
neck pain and stiffness with associated Occipital location headache may be due to cervical spondylosis with radiculopathy. other possibility may be meningismus due to some viral or bacterial infection.
The drug ramistar H is for increased blood pressure. Open Oz and clery are antibiotics and may be given for some rhinitis, cough.
Delcon is chlorpheneramine used for allergy, dizziness, rhinitis.
CT scan of head is normal for brain related issues.
Some other medications can be given if examination shows features of radiculopathy.
one blood report of random sugar is above normal cut off and requires fasting, post prandial and HbA1c.
I will advise you to consult a neurologist for proper evaluation and investigation.

Hello Doctor,

Thank you very much for the response.

The last consultation was with a Neuro Surgeon(Dr. XXXXXXX Rath) only.
In that case we still need to consult another Neurologist and discontinue current medicine?

Since there are no Neurologist in the town where she lives and she has to travel a long distance and spend atleast 2 days for such a single visit.

The reason for suggesting medicines on high blood pressure is understood.
However it is not clear why he has suggested for rhinitis, cough related tablets.

She had done a CT Scan, X-ray and Blood test already.
Any other specific test that would confirm about radiculopathy?

Is this curable?

Is there any home remedy to get immidiate relief from the nerve pulling sensation that she has been observing? If not would you recommend any specific medicine for that.

Continue drug for blood pressure.
For other complains, Mri of cervical spine may be required but it would be better to get it done only after consulting a neurologist who can examine properly.
Physiotherapy and drug will help a lot in cervical spondylosis with radiculopathy.
For heaviness in head and neck pain, amitryptiline 10 mg and local pain reliever can be taken.
