Posted on Mon, 6 Jun 2016
Question: Saturday night I went and had a couple drinks with a friend. The next day I was extremely sick so I blew it off as a hangover. It is now Wed and I am so sick to my stomach all day and night I have tried to eat but it just makes me more sick and I don't feel hungry at all, I am so tired but I have not done anything to use up my energy. I get really cold and start shaking then I get really hot and start sweating.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question to HCM.

You were actually probably correct in assuming your symptoms Sunday were caused by a hangover. However, your symptoms continuing until today suggest that while you were out drinking, you probably caught a stomach virus that is causing gastroenteritis.

The good news is that this will resolve itself in another 24-48 hours. No antibiotics are needed, because it is very likely viral. If you develop any severe pain, this could be concerning for appendicitis, at which point you should call 911 and visit an ER.
