What Causes Nausea And Stomach Cramps After A Fall?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Jul 2014
Question: My not elderly mother slipped down stairs on Monday. She did not hit her head or even bump it. She basically slid down the last few stairs on her butt. Tuesday morning she had stomach cramps and felt like she needed to throw up. She rested all morning and felt well enough to do activities in the afternoon. Wednesday she was fine until mid afternoon when she was suddenly hit with the dizziness/ nauseous feeling again. Today she continues to feel dizzy. We are on vacation in Florida and have been out in the sun. We thought it might be dehydration but today she has stayed very hydrated and the symptoms are still there. She did take some dramamine and that helped a bit.

Brief Answer:
Keep monitoring her vital signs...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I am sorry for the accident your mom has.

What worries me at this moment are the signs of being nauseous and stomach cramps. I want to make sure nothing wrong is happening to her internal organs (internal bleeding or others).

So, I highly suggest to get her an abdominal ultrasound and urine analysis. If everything is fine, then, what she is experiencing might be due to a common viral infection (climate changes or dehydration).

Keep her taking fluids and monitor her vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate) and observe if anything unusual happens to her (bleeding, severe headache,etc.).

Wish her fast recovery!
