What Causes Nausea And Dizziness While On Zoloft For Anxiety?

Question: I am on,my second day of taking zolof for my anxiety. I have been having the nausea but have started shaking and having dizziness and mild lower abdominal pain. I also take a multi vitamin and a b vitamin complex supplement. should I be calling my Dr or go to the hoslital?

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Zoloft (Sertraline) is and SSRI medicine. You seem to be suffering from side effects of the same if these effects are there after starting the drug. These are not serious side effects.For a while stop the drug and let me know dose you have been prescribed.Stopping the medicine will reverse the side effects.No need to go to hospital immediately.

In my opinion it should be started with 25 mg daily and later on dose can be increased gradually.

I am only taking 25 MG to begin with and an not suppose to up to a 50mg dose for a week yet

Hi,

Thanks for clarification. Sorry for delayed response.

You can wait until side effects subside (probably in a day or two). Later on you can restart the medicine half tablet of 25 mg at night. If no side effects, you can take 25 mg at night 4th day onward.

In any case if you feel side effects again, you need to consult doctor for changing the medicine.
