What Causes Muscle Weakness And Inflammation With Anxiety?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Oct 2014
Question: I have a long history of a problem that no one Deena to know the answer to yet I am suffering. it all starts with this uncontrollable anxiety, like I have drank several pots of coffee. its like my mind is not nervous but my body is. all of my muscles are weak and seem to be inflamed. I become very hot when I sleep but do not sweat and when I take my temp it is normal. I experience stomach upset and diarrhea. I become very weak and seem to have no capacity for stress. my symptoms are always worse in the morning (waking up feeling doom) and by the evening things are a little better. this all started after a whiplash injury. I have been seeing a NUCCA chiropractor who has made the symptoms go away when I hold my alignment. if I lose my alignment the symptoms come flooding back. sometimes, like right now, they don't easily go away. I used to feel like I was going to pass out all the time and was diagnosed with an euro carcinogenic syncope. it used to feel like my blood pressure had me dropping in an elevator. iv fluids and antiinflammatories have been the only things that have given me mild relief. sometimes it feels hard to get a good breath. have had 2 MRIs and a ct scan that showed nothing. have had chest xrays and nothing. any ideas what could be causing this?

Brief Answer:
Need a team approach and detailed evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern also that MRIs and CT were norml in the past. Few questions to ask.
1) Do you have episodic palpitations and sweating along with these symptoms?
2) Any flushing?
3) Are you using any medicines now including naturopathy medications.
4) have you tested thyroid functions?

Your symptoms could be caused by Thyroid disorders, Pheochromocytoma or simple anxiety or panic disorder. You need a team approach by an endocriologist, psychologist and a psychiatrist. They may need to talk to you in detail and examine you and formulate a plan.

Please google Pheochromocytoma and let me know if any of your symptoms fit in to the symptoms of pheochromocytoma.

it doesn't seem like the symptoms mentioned in pheochromocytoma as I don't have the high blood pressure or sweating. my general practioner has had my blood tested for thyroid and it has come back normal. I do have flushing. I am not on any medications other than a multivitamin. I do occasionally get palpitations as well. I also seem to be extremely sensitive to medications. I have tried several in the past which only led to a host of more problems. sometimes it feels like my blood is just not reaching all of my organs and tissues. if I get up and move around and get blood pumping things improve slightly. but if I do any physical exertion that would give me DOMS then my symptoms worsen terribly and I suffer.

Brief Answer:
A suggestion

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the reply.
It is worth while doing few tests.
1) 24 hour urine Metanephrines and Plasma Metanephrines
2) Urine 5 HIAA levels

If these tests are normal, a psychology/psychiatry consultation should be considered. You may feel better by a mild anti anxiety medication together with Yoga/meditation.
Occasional SPA treatments and medicated oil body massages may help as well. Another thing to consider is to take a small holiday away to a quite little scenic place where you do bit f walking/fishing etc. All these may help you

thank you. I will hope my family doctor can help me with that. do you think it is worthwhile to ask her to refer me to an endocrinologist?
