What Causes Muscle Spasms In The Torso?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Nov 2017
Question: I am experiencing muscle spasms in my torso regularly. Sometimes I have turned awkwardly. Sometimes they result after prolonged coughing due to allergies. I now take a Flexeril at bedtime, and take them during the day if I have a spasm.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to many causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Muscle spasms can be due to dehydration, muscle fatigue or electrolyte abnormalities. It is better to drink sufficient fluid and also see that your intake of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium ) is sufficient. You can drink Oralyte for this.
Several vitamin deficiency states may directly or indirectly lead to muscle cramps. These include deficiencies of thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), and pyridoxine (B6). Hypothyroidism also needs to be ruled out if the problem is persistent.
I hope this answers your query.
