Question: Hello I have muscle cramps in my lower right leg when I urinate. As soon as I am done the cramps subside.
Also I have upper back and right flank pain that is constant and the entire area is sore to touch. In addition to that I am now getting sharp upper abdominal pain runs from right to left then subsides also the med I take for gerd(protonix) has no effect on the hearburn.I take coreg 25mg losartan 100mg simvastatin 40mg maxide 37.5/15
And lyrica 150 mg once daily for nerve pain.
I went to a urologist my urine was clear no problem the doctor said I may have a inflammation of the prostate he prescribed 600mg clindomyacin 2x daily but it made my stomach issues worse.
I do have back issues l4 and l5 are herniated plus c5 and c6 are herniated along with spinal stenoisis and arthritis. What should I do? What tests should my primary care have run?The specialists are killing me!
Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Muscle cramps in legs with urination and subsiding with finishing urination is likely posture related muscle cramps and can be correlated with the herniated discs of spine as nerve compressed there may be causing this radiating pain which exacerbates during sitting position for urination. First you need to focus on this disc prolapse as its causing the pain and pain is not manageable with lyrica alone. You may need intervention, disc removal surgery, decompression or just epidural steroids injections, along with it, you need physiotherapy exercises.

Now for GERD, protonix is just an aid for relief, more role is played by diet and lifestyle adjustments, losing weight will help GERD as well as discs, eat small frequent meals, avoid spices, alcohol, beverages, soda, processed canned foods , delay lying down after meal for at least 3 hours. Keep head side of the bed elevated for at least 8 inches. Use more fiber and fluids and keep the dairy products to the minimum.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
