What Causes Multiple Painful Sores On Tongue?

Question: I have multiple painful sores on my tongue. Also the whole tongue is irritated and lots of the normal bumps on my tongue are inflamed. the end of my tongue is the most painful. I also have a few canker sores on the inside of my cheeks. Have had this for several weeks now and seems to be getting worse.

thanks for your query,

the multiple sores on the tongue and your cheek could be because of the herpes virus infection resulting in herpetic gingivo stomatitis or it can be a multiple aphthous ulcer secondary to stress..

if i am your treating doctor i would have started treating with a course of topical anesthetic and analgesic for 5 days and if it doesnt subside then i would have treated with topical steroids or amlexanox paste.

do saline gargling. if the severity is more consult your oral physician immediately.
