What Causes Mottled Skin While Lying Down?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: My skin has a mottled look to it but not all the time. When I lie down it disappears. When I walk around it reappears. There is no pain associated with this. Can you tell me what might cause this. I am taking the following drugs. Levodopa CR 100-25(4 per day every 3 Hours)
Leovodopa CR 200-50(1 per Day at Bedtime)
Lyrica (75 mg(taken 2 per day at wake up and at bedtime)
Amantadine(100 mg 2 per day)
I have never been allergic to any drugs as far as I know. I am a 67 year old male who has Parkinsons.
Ive been on these drugs for a long time so I doubt that it would affect me in this way.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Put forward a list of most probable causes sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I agree with you that the medications (especially as you are on them for a long time now) could cause such a presentation. Mottled skin has certain specific conditions that are suspected when observed, I shall go ahead and list them out for your reference sir. They are:

+Systemic lupus erythematosus
+Rheumatoid arthritis
+Atherosclerosis
+Vitiligo
+Prolonged immobility
+Peripheral vascular disease
+Artery occlusion
and a few others.

I understand how this may get you worried sir, but in my opinion it is nothing too serious and a physical examination coupled with a few blood investigations will help to find the cause more accurately sir.

In the meantime, make sure you are not immobile for long and keep moving around every now and then. I hope you find my response both helpful and informative sir. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
