Posted on Thu, 21 May 2015
Question: I have a new mole on my arm that grew very quickly and now seems to be dying. It changed color and shape, shrunk, and now seems almost ready to fall off, all in a couple of weeks. Cause for concern?

Brief Answer:
Please attach a photograph

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I understand from your query that you are concerned about a mole on your arm.

From your history and description, I would consider the possibility of a dysplastic nevus.

Please attach a clear photograph so that I can assess better.

Brief Answer:
Better to biopsy the lesion

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for uploading the picture.

I would consider the possibilities of Viral wart, Keratoacanthoma and Dysplastic nevus.

Wart is an infection caused by a virus. It can be treated by a simple cauterisation procedure or cryotherapy. ( freezing the lesion)

Keratoacanthoma and dysplastic nevus are both premalignant lesions, which need to be completely excised.

I would advice you to get a skin biopsy done to make sure of the diagnosis and for further management.

Hope this helps you.

Take care and wish you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Johny Chacko
