Question: Hi,

I am a 28 years old female. I have missed 2 cycles of periods back to back. I have taken pregnancy test and its negative. I am supposed to get periods every first week of month as per my previous cycles. However, I am not. I am facing a lot of acidity issues. I used to love tea/coffee but since last 1 month, I am unable to have any beverage. I used to drink one tall glass of water every morning, If i do it now , I vomit. I am feeling that the food that i am eating is digesting very slowly. I do not vomit when i have normal food like lunch and dinner. I feel good after having food. But after one hour or so i start getting burning sensation. And as soon as I have any liquid even water I feel like puking. I get lot of burps, i mean a lot which i never used to in the past. I am NOT facing any constipation problems.
I feel lot of burning sensation just below chest, you can say upper abdomen. I was out of station for past one and half month and thought that the location and climate change could be reason for my delayed periods. During this travel I had lot of gaps between meals. Hence, I waited patiently, but now am back home since two weeks and I am getting worried. Due to vomitting and acidity I feel I dont have any stamina. I am not able to excercise , dont feel like doing anything (just feel lazyy ) all the time. Do you think this is serious ? I gave it lot of time so that it heals on its own. I have faced acidity issues in the past, but that's just for 1-2 days at the XXXXXXX
I really do not understand why I am missing my monthly cycles. Please Help! This has never happened in the past.

Brief Answer:
Acidity stress delaying cycles

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about delayed periods and acidity.

Following is my reply:

1. Periods are delayed due to stress either physical or mental. Let me know if you are under mental pressure due to personal, family, career ir academic reasons which are causing these problems.

2. Your acidity seems to be from stomach / duodenal ulcers. You need to undergo endoscopy to identify the ulcer at the earliest and opt for treatment.

3. Such severe acidity causes physical stress and delays periods. This is not associated with pregnancy or anything else.

4. I suggest you see a gastroenterologist soon to identify the location of ulcer and get treatment so that periods regularize after that.

Let me know if you need any more help.

I have heard that in Ulcers, you face lot of pain in near the lower abdomen. Also, when i vomit its usually water coming out. Sometimes, when i have bread or banana (last two days) i vomit and everything that i ate was out. Also, when i vomit i feel horrible i just keep going on for 5 mins atleast and i feel as if my stomach is going to come out.
I also feel bloated due to which i dont feel hungry but still i continue to have my meals to get some enery. Plus I have became very low on stamina
Thanks for your feedback.

Brief Answer:
Endoscopy needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Ulcers cause pain in middle and upper part of abdomen. UTI causes lower abdomen pain.

Low stamina is because of ulcers leading to vomiting. Watery vomiting can occur in ulcers.

You should undergo endoscopy soon to identify location of ulcer.

Let me know if you need any more clarification.

Hi

Thanks for the follow-up.
I am a bit hesitant to get an endoscopy done.
Can it be cured by over the counter medicines? I don't have much pain but I feel lot of burning sensation and after 1-2 hrs of having lunch/dinner i feel it even more.
So can the burps and the burning sensation be solved by over the counter medicines.
I have not puked since yesterday. However, i feel tired doing nothing.

And do you think these symptoms are due to missed monthly cycles?

Brief Answer:
Take antacids available OTC

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You can try having antacids available OTC. Have it 30 min before breakfast and dinner.

Missed periods are due to the stress caused by ulcers. If this acidity/ulcers problem is solved, cycles will become regular.

Let me know if you need any more help.
