What Causes Missed Periods After Having Copper T Insertion?
Question: I got the copper t contraceptive inserted a couple of weeks ago and since then I have had my period non stop and painful cramps. Is this a normal side effect and will it subside?

Typically insertion of the IUD is a relatively simple procedure. If the insertion itself was difficult, and in the setting of painful cramps and bleeding, then this needs to be evaluated immediately. Sometimes the IUD is inserted incorrectly and this can lead to abnormal bleeding and cramping / pain.
That being said, the most common complaints after insertion of the IUD are spotting and cramping which eventually subsides. In your case, bleeding "non-stop" and painful cramps sound like more than we would typically expect. You need to call your doctor and schedule an exam and ultrasound to assess the IUD and its placement.
