What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Oct 2017
Question: I had a temporary crown put on yesterday. Since then I've had a wierd clove/metallic taste in my mouth. I've also felt nauseous. I don't know if that's because the taste is making my mouth water or because I'm so worried I'm having an allergic reaction. can you give some insight?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to the cementing material.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for the query...

Metallic or clove-like taste can be due to the cementing or glue material used to glue the temporary crown over the tooth..

It does not look like Allergic reaction.

So my suggestion to you is to go back to your Dentist.
If there is an excess of material it will be removed...
It will help in reducing the metallic taste.

For now, you should gargle with flavored Mouthwash.
Clean your tongue using a tongue cleaner...
