Brief Answer:
Problem of forgetfulness.. could be Zyprexa.. could be other things.. need more information..

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking in HCM.

Use of Zyprexa (olanzapine) can cause problem of forgetfulness as it decreases alertness by increasing sedation.

It can also due to mild depression.

Please give me more details about your illness for which you are taking this drug.

After that I could probably give you a much better way to overcome your problem of memory loss.
Memory enhancement drugs like Admenta and Donepezil are a possibility, but only after knowing the cause of your problem. These are prescription drugs though, so you will need to contact your Primary Care Physician if we decide these medications are necessary.

Please give me a detailed history and I will do my utmost to help you.

Hope I have answered your query..
Take care

I'm taking zyprexa for schizophrenia. My diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder. I also take Depakote. 20 mg of zyprexa and 750 mg of Depakote. Before I was on zypexa I heard very disturbing voices which caused me to talk outloud in anger. Since taking zyprexa the voices have quieted and I can distinguish between reality and delusions much more- about 85 percent of the time and I no longer talk out loud to the voices.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
it could be pseudodementia

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for providing more information.
You seem to be showing signs of 'pseudodementia', most probably a part of post schizophrenic depression.

I would suggest that you first go for brain MRI to rule out any structural issues with the brain.
Olanzapine (Zyprexa) can also cause these symptoms.

Tab Vitamin E and other antioxidants should be helpful here as well.
Tab donepezil and tab admenta are medications that would help you as well, in my opinion. They require a prescription though.

You will need to discuss this situation and my reccomendations with your psychiatrist and remain working with them in close concert.

Hope I have answered your question.

My doctor gave me a super simple memory test and told me there was nothing wrong with my memory when I passed it but I must forget things about 30 times a day. My other concern is frequent urination. Could this be caused by the medications I'm taking? Thank you so much for your help.

Doctor I'm taking full advantage of the time we have and have another question as well.According to Ayurveda the kidneys are trying to get rid of toxins in the body thru the urine. Could this frequent urination be the kidney's way of getting rid of the medications I'm taking? I'm really inclined to Ayurveda healing and have had a recent good result from some things I just tried the last couple of days. There's an ayurvedic website called Homeveda where they offer remedies from your kitchen and remedies using common ayurvedic herbs like brahmi etc. I tried one for schizophrenia and one for depression and I didn't hear voices at all today they also suggested a breakfast for memory improvement and that seemed to help. I hope you can continue to have patience with me. But I thought I'd use your expertise while we still have time. I'm pretty poor and can't really afford on going contact with you at this point so I'm trying to get as many questions answered as I can.
Thanks in advance
