What Causes Major And Minor Joint Pains?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: I have major and minor joint pains. CRP and sed rate levels were high. 10.9 and 59. Alieve doesn't help. After reading horror stories of people going to ra and not getting diagnosed, I'm afraid I'm going to have to live with the pain. Very stiff in the mornings, and during the day at work. I have a desk job. I go to RA this week for first time. Should I be worried that he will not give me anything for pain. My regular doctor ruled out Fibro.

Brief Answer: avoid pain killers Detailed Answer: Hi I am Dr Mittal, MD I will try to answer your query. I would have told a patient of mine to stay off medicines and pain killers as far as possible. I will also suggest two tests- rheumatoid factor, anti CCP, and x ray of hands. If it turns out to be arthritis, you may need some specific agents for Rheumatoid, and they will slowly afford you some pain relief. Meanwhile, continue physiotherpay. Please feel free to ask a related query Best of luck Dr Saumya Mittal

My RF and ccp were within normal ranges. GP did those tests as well. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what RA says. I just hope I don't have to go through years of pain like many stories I have read. I did look at the newest criteria for RA. I have 7 out of 10. Thanks anyway

Brief Answer: may need treatment Detailed Answer: hi again thanks for the confidence the fact remains that if the 7 criteria have been fulfilled clinically, you are already positive for rheumatoid arthritis irrespective of the tests i would have probably waited for the report but eventually, in any patient i was treating directly, i would have initiated the treatment what were the 7 criteria you fulfilled? Best of luck Dr Saumya Mittal
