What Causes Macular Pigmentation In Eyes?
Question: Hi,
the optician during routine check found egg yolk type of macular pigmentation in the right eye. That's why I see blurry and wavy. I am having high degree myopia -8D. Now I am waiting for further examination. I am very scared and panic because this symptom refers only to Vitelliform macular dystrophy (I am 25 years old). But all my family members are healthy and haven't this disease. Could this symptom refers to another eye disease? By the way, my left eye is not affected yet.

However since it is present in only one eye, family history is negative and you are having high myopia we need yo consider other causes like macular scar, myooic degeneration of macula....
Hence I advice you not to worry but to consult a retina specialist for retina examination as though the description appears similar but other findings does not substantiate it.
