Brief Answer:
A picture of the lumps on your bottom lip are required....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Can you please send a picture of your bottom lip where there are all these lumps for the past 2 or 3 years? I need to evaluate their size and appearance myself?

Apart being painless, do you have any other trouble with them: burning? itching? or trouble when chewing up? Or any other symptom?

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Following details regarding causes of inflammed salivary glands...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

I am so sorry for the late reply due to my XXXXXXX clinical overload.

Thank you for providing the requested photos. I was going through them, and I admit was not able to notice the lumps there.

Please take note that these salivary glands get inflamed each time you consume any food that could damage the mucosa of bottom lip: e.g. citric/acidic foods/drinks; too hot drinks, etc.

I understand you're annoyed but if you avoid consuming such foods, you won't get them inflamed.

Furthermore, viral infection can also cause their inflammation. Keeping a good oral hygiene by washing your mouth after meal, brushing your teeth regularly, can also help.

Next, there are some oral cleansers that can irritate the oral mucosa/salivary glands, causing them to get inflamed. So, watch what you use and how that will affect the salivary glands on your lower lips.

Other advice to keep in mind is related to continuous biting of bottom lip. That would also cause irritation, once you stop this habit (if you have it), you won't get such annoyed about inflamed salivary gland.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Brief Answer:
Should rule out salivary gland stones...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for following up.

From the new data you are providing, I could think over a possibility of salivary gland stones. Get them checked by a dentist or ENT specialist to rule them out.
Sometimes, foods or dirties/impurities can cause these stones especially when they get inflamed.

Remember not to bite the bottom lip as that will increase chances for further inflammation.

Hope this helps.
