What Causes Lump On Side Of Neck?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jul 2015
Question: I am sending a pic of a lump I have on the side of my neck. Have had it for about a year now. It isn't painful. I can move it around, just under the skin. Would like to know who could tell me what it may be. I want to have it removed. Just a nuisance to me.

Brief Answer:
it seems to be a lipoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the looks of the lesion, it seems to be a lipoma, which is a fat tissue lump, and is benign and has got nothing to be worried about apart from the cosmetic problems. The history of being XXXXXXX freely underneath the skin falls more in its favor.

Other possibilities could have been some aneurysm in neck arteries, but that would have been pulsatile.

If it is not warm to touch, or you haven't faced long standing fevers, discharge or tenderness, then possibilities of underlying infection are ruled out.

Now come the question of what to do next. All you gotta do is, to visit a general or plastic surgeon, get it excised, which is a minor procedure. And later on send the swelling contents for biopsy, to get a detailed histopathology reporting done.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.
