What Causes Lump On Jawline?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Dec 2015
Question: My 9 year old just found a moveable lump at just under his jawline. It's about the size of an m&m and can be moved around. He doesn't seem to have any cold, infection, or toothache. He has had a sprained ankle from soccer, but no other issues we know of. Should I be worried or take him to the doctor?

Brief Answer:
Do not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns but don't worry. The lump you felt is most likely a lymph node. It's many a times palpable under the jaw and sides of neck as a normal clinical finding.
I would recommend you to monitor the size of lymph node for the time being. In case the size increase to more than 1 cm or its associated with development of other symptoms then visit a pediatrician for proper clinical examination.

Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
