What Causes Lower Backache With Muscle Atrophy?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Nov 2017
Question: Good afternoon. I have been experiencing lower back pain and an extreme loss of strength in the muscles of the back and buttocks (on the right hand side), making very difficult to stand up straight and to walk. Along with these symptoms this morning I was experiencing a substantial level of pain below my ribs on the same side of the body as my back pain. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
It needs further evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that low back pain can occur because of lot of reasons but since you mentioned in your history that you suffer from arthritis it generally affects all parts of body so since its an acute pain and weakness we need to rule out Prolapsed intervertebral disc which happens to be the most important cause. I will advise you to get a x ray done for lumbosacral spine for this and then only we can further decide.

Take care.

Dr Shruti
