Posted on Mon, 17 Nov 2014
Question: Hello. I'm 21 years old me and my partner have been trying for a baby for the last 5 months. It's very unlike me not to spot every week, my period are very irregular. Yesterday I had very bad lower back pain and today my first wee of the day, the toilet was full of blood I couldn't see any clotting as I couldn't see the bottom of the toilet. Could I have had a misscarrige? Or is my period just very heavy. I now have cramping in my lower abdomen and my back is aching. Please help. Thank you , XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
urine pregnancy test

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I understand your health concerns.
Yes it can be an abortion or just a normal heavy period.
You need to do a urine pregnancy test and see for results.
In case positive go for an urgent ultrasound and then visit a gynecologist but avoid exertion at all times.
But in case negative there is nothing to worry in view of loss of pregnancy but take mefanemic acid and tranexemic acid combination tablet (easily available).
But you need full work up in the form of hormone profile testing and transvaginal ultrasound in order to see the cause of irregular periods and infertility.

So, just do a urine pregnancy test and then we can discuss the reports.
All the best.

Brief Answer:
see detailed description

Detailed Answer:
I'm sorry I didn't know the other part.
Do pregnancy test as soon as possible for you and in case it is negative which is a desired result wait for next cycle and in case same pattern persists then get an ultrasound.
Though it is common to have such bleeding pattern during lactational period but in case it is causing disturbance then should be evaluated properly.
All the best.
