Posted on Thu, 6 Aug 2015
Question: Hello!
I took an i-pill on 6th May 2015 after that my periods were late by more than two months and I had to take Norethisterone 5 mg thrice a day for my periods to commence. I got my periods on 11th July which lasted for 5 days and ended on 15th July 2015.
I had unprotected sex on 18th July. I thought it will be safe as I am not in my ovulating period. Since today morning I am experiencing slight discomfort in my lower abdomen area and also facing problem in urination. I am having fever and headache since last night.
Also, I saw slight bleeding during urination.
What are the chances that I could be pregnant?
Please help me. I am freaking out.

hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern,
In my opinion the chances of pregnancy are rare.As 18 th july come under safe period.
The discomfort in lower abdomen and urination problem might be due to urine infection.
i suggest you to consult doctor and get urine examination done to rule out infection.
Relax. The symptoms does not signify pregnancy
Take plenty of oral fluids upto 3 litres, coconut water to prevent urinary tract infection.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.

Thank you very much Doctor. Your answer helped me calm down.
However, As I have mentioned earlier I took an i-pill which led to delayed periods. Can this cause irregular ovulation too?
Do I need to take a pregnancy test?

Brief Answer:
ipill causes hormonal imbalance

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion ipill causes hormonal imbalance as it contains high dose of progesterone. So it effects the timing and bleeding of periods.
It disturbs the hormonal milieu leading to irregular period and also the ovulation might be altered.
But anytime the ovulation occurs 14 days before the period.
So there is no need to do the urine pregnancy test. But for your satisfaction you can do it.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss further.
Best regards...Kindly give a positive feedback.

you are absolutely right.
there is a latest study regarding use of oral contraceptives and pelvic inflammatory disease.
The result of this study are, there is high incidence of Clamydia associated infections in women taking only pills when compare to women who are using condom as a contraceptive measure.

so I suggest you to consider using condom and be safe from infections.
