default
Posted on Mon, 10 Aug 2015
Question: Hi,
My Cheek (left side) gets low vibrations and goes off. Doesn't happen often. Unrelated to check at time i get a sudden movement of my face or leg sideways without my effort and that feeling goes off. Could it be any nerves related issue?
Thanks,

Brief Answer:
It could be caused by electrolyte imbalance

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through the details. It seems that you are having clonus. It is rhythmic contraction of selective muscles and may be caused due to electrolyte imbalance. I do not think it to be a nerve related issue. The things I would suggest would be:
* Take plenty of juicy fruits. They contain potassium which is needed for proper muscle contraction.
* Take calcium supplements.
* Eat healthy. Regularly exercise.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Doctor for letting me know it is not nerve related. Just curious how do we know if an issue like this is nerve related or not?

Brief Answer:
If there is a clinical explanation, I doubt if investigation is required.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking back.
Although I do not think it necessary from a clinical perspective, you may get an EMG (electro myo neurogam) done to be sure that it is not due to some nerve pathology.
