What Causes Low Grade Fever, Shoulder Pain And Difficulty In Breathing?
Question: Dr. Kakkar
I have been down the last few days. My granddaughters birthday party was held at our house and by the end of it i was in so much pain i was nauseated. So went to bed by 6.Sunday was better and i sat outside Under a UV shade now for the last couple days have had rash, low grade fever, "vice" like leg pain, hip and shoulder pain, difficulty catching my breath and doulbe vision of and on.
I am still waiting to hear from a rheumatologist for an appointment so am keeping a list each day of how i feel.

Brief Answer:
Possible Lupus. Symptomatic management and sun avoidance
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to me.
You must use a sunscreen regularly. In addition strict sun protection is a must or else it might lead to a flare. Shades wont help.
I suggest you to take an oral antiinflammatory e.g ibuprofen or diclofenac, twice daily for symptomatic relief. In addition I would also suggest a low dose of oral steroids e.g prednisolone 20mg for a week. It would be wise to rule out internal organ involvement (particularly kidney) and going thorough antibody profile and if that comes ok then for your predominantly joint symptoms and skin rash, hydroxychloroquin is a good option
